The Full Custom Home Process
Concept Meeting
Together, we sit down and unpack your wish list in full detail. This is also where we discuss your budget for the build, to get an accurate picture of what’s possible.
Letter of Intent
Both parties sign a letter of intent, promising “We’re both in this.” Once the ink dries, we move into the exciting stuff, architectural meetings.
Design
You’ll meet with the architect who is designing your home. They will then get to work on your dream home, and when done with designs, we take it to pricing.
Build Cost Meeting
The architectural designs are vital to an accurate cost. We’ll sit down with you and go over the real cost to build. If we need to cut back on the wish list to fit the budget, this meeting is the place to do that. The Abigail team will take your designs, including any modifications, to our trusted structural engineering partner for permitting.
Selections
While the permit is in process, we’ll get back into the fun stuff: picking out the accents and finishes on your custom home. This includes cabinets, appliances, flooring, countertops, and plumbing and light fixtures.
Permit Released
A quick call is made between you and our team—celebrating the “go ahead” or permit release.
Pre-construction Meeting
Before we break ground, a final meeting is had to review any changes and answer any questions you may have. We’ll let you know a timeline of what critical site visits will look like moving forward.
Break Ground
Day one of making your dream, reality. The build process takes 8-12 months on average. In these months, we’ll be in touch and welcome you to see the work in progress.
Pre-drywall Meeting
This step is very important to ensure all electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and low voltage locations are accurate to the plans and your specifications. We want it done right before the drywall goes up. When we get the green light, we’ll schedule a time for your New Home Orientation.
New Home Orientation
At this point, we’re doing touch-ups and the move in date is just around the corner. Together, we’ll walk the full home and give an overview of how your home operates, taking you from plan to physical reality. You’ll receive a homeowner manual that includes warranties and other relevant information.
Closing
Our chapter comes to a close, and the start of an exciting new one begins for your family. But don’t worry, we’ll be available along the way for anything that may come up.
